Café zum Mohren - Aachen

This place is dope. You'll be drooling just looking st the lovely cakes, pies, etc., behind the glass. Pistachio and cherry pie- pistachio purée! Was a real hit in our group. Very friendly service and you can and should take home yummy things home with you.

Great place near the Rathaus and Dom to meet people for a drink and for desserts (or just go by yourself and have a cup of coffee or tea and read and work). They have an outdoor patio area and then 3 floors inside. If you're lucky, you can get a indoor seat next to the window and look out onto the plaza. The desserts are very good. I tried a few things but I especially like the ice cream cakes. They have several different types of ice cream cakes but I don't think that they are listed on the menu you need to look at the cakes in the display on the first floor and then let the waitperson know the number of the cake you want. I went into the summer, but should also be a good place to go in the fall and winter for hot chocolate.

Stopped here to have some coffee and cake. Atmosphere: this is a three storied cafe with very limited seating on the first floor, but more seating on the 2nd and 3rd floor. It has tables of various sizes for different sized groups. It is a very comfortable cafe to enjoy the coffee and cake. The first floor has a large display of the various cakes available. It can get very crowded on the first floor if there are people waiting to get a table or waiting to order from the counter. Staff: the entire staff was very polite. When they saw our group come in (6 people), they let us know they were going to open up the 3rd floor in 5 minutes; within 5 minutes, it was open. The waitress was a real joy as she was polite, attentive, and engaged us in polite conversation. Food: the cakes and other desserts were wonderful! The beverages were fixed as ordered. The portions were perfectly sized for a light snack! There is a large selection of items, so you might spend a fair amount of time looking through the menu...or just let the waitress know which one was appealing down in the counter. Overall, this is a great place to visit if you need to get out of the cold and have a little something to warm you up and give you some more energy. I would definitely visit here again.
