We stayed at the Birchwood on New Years Eve 2013. This is the 3rd year in a row that we have stayed there for New Years Eve. this year the restaurant decided to shut down and have a buffet instead of being able to order off of the regular restaurant menu. Being that the Birchwood is in the location it is in and it is New Years, there was no other option around for places to eat. Therefore we had no option but to pay for the buffet...which cost us $25 each. What this buffet included was a small salad bar, a piece of prime rib, a baked potato, carrots, broccoli cheeses sauce, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and a bun. There were no other options! Once we had filled our plate of food, they began to take away all of the food (the buffet time was only 1 hour into the 3 hour allotted time frame). We did not have the opportunity to go back for a seconds of the buffet. Isn't the point of a buffet to have a lot of selections as well as the opportunity to go back as many times as you want??? the $25 also did not include any type of dessert option. Not impressed!!! to top off this bad experience, we were kept up the entire night by a group of people taking up many rooms near us who partied well into the night. They were up and down the halls, music was loud and there was screaming, yelling, etc. At 2:30a.m. there was a loud banging on our door. The party went until about 4:45a.m. Not impressed!! Although the location is nice and the hot tub in the room is a nice touch, our tradition of staying here on New Years Eve is over!!
Where I. Found things either not checked prior to receiving the key when Icalled the office yes someone came and took care with great. kindness .
New owners, friendly !!! Great all around! Good food, well stocked beer vendor. Has an attached hotel.
We stopped for dinner on our way to the cabin last Friday. We placed our order just before reaching Scanterbury and it was ready for pick-up. The food was hot and delicious. The Greek salad came with the dressing on the side, the fried chicken was crispy, the poutine was cheesy, the clubhouse sandwich was huge, and the fries were plentiful with the meals. It's a great option when you're hungry and looking for a quick, affordable meal.
