Amarra Ò Tejo - Almada

Comida muito boa vista incrível de Lisboa.

Of all the restaurants we visited: Amarra o Tejo by far has the best view ever and it has very very very very fine dishes. Befor I can even start describing: just go there and you will enjoy the whole experience. Just great!

I had dinner recently on Amarra o Tejo and it was a big disappointment. I was used to go there in the past and although quite expensive it was great. Not anymore.. i mean still expensive but very weak. We order several entries, main courses and desserts. The portions are very small, specially for the entries. For example avoid the sweet potato with mango and cheese- don’t deserve! The grilled tuna with a fancy name ... some portions had some nerves-difficult to cut and eat. The Castle pastry is fried and i knew the rancidity. The service is pretentious. If you are looking for amazing views, visit the garden and go for a meal in another location.

We had a great evening here. To get there from Lisbon central, you take the ferry from Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas. Then you walk along the coastline past beautifully derelict buildings, enjoying perfect views onto Lisbon, until you reach an elevator that takes you almost to the restaurant. It offers no outside tables, but there is a stunning terrace just in front of the restaurant where we had a caipirinha from the bar. Advice: on hot summer nights, time your visit with sunset, otherwise the window blinds might be down due to the restaurant directly facing west. The food was very good and our waiter was excellent and very attentive. Prices are very reasonable.
