However, we had a little wait before we saw our server to order. However, she was friendly and efficient. The food was good. It was served hot and fresh. We loved the location of it. Prices were good for the breakfast menu. We opted to split a plate and it was split for us. Good food and good service. Great find.
Island cafe has been in Anacortes for as long as I can remember. However, it used to be much better. Now it cost you 20+ dollars to get a classic normal breakfast. I know it is a family owned business but they are screwing their servers who are not family out of tips. The cost of food is so high there for average at best quality food, it makes it really tough to want to tip more for the server. I am sad to say but I will not be returning to island cafe until they lower their prices to a more reasonable standard that matches the quality of their food.
I had a fantastic breakfast at this restaurant! The service was excellent and there was no wait. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy, the bacon was crispy, and the cinnamon roll frenzy toast was soft, fluffy, and delicious. We were served and finished our meals in less than 30 minutes. When we drove by the other popular breakfast spots, we noticed long lines. Island Cafe is not only half the price, but also has half the attitude and half the noise. There is also better spacing between tables, making for a more comfortable dining experience.
We were hungry and looking for a place for brunch to eat on a Sunday in Anacortes. Overall I was quite disappointed at the quality of food. The service was okay. There was no sign-in for the wait list and it seemed very disorganized. Understandably, they were short-staffed. I ordered strawberry crepes from the special menu and didn't find it very enjoyable for $16. The portion is small and honestly I think I would've gone to iHOPS instead if I wanted crepes. There was just too much cream cheese to crepes ratio and the strawberry sauce leaked into the eggs so it ruined the taste of it. Fortunately they were able to replace my eggs but the eggs tasted really mediocre. I don't think the price and value is worth it for me to come back.
Missed our ferry so we were pretty depressed driving back to town. We had an inkling to support local businesses so decided we wanted breakfast and happened on this spot. No wait at all and all around solid breakfast, would consider going back again if I ever miss the ferry again. The **** Mary's hit and back and eggs were fresh off the stove. My friend might have thrown up in the bathroom.
