I will miss all those yummy yakitoris. Ramen Takeya serves chicken base ramen, and they are really good. Every thing they put in the bowl complements each other. I highly recommend the spicy version if you can handle a little kick. My only complaint is even though the restaurant was not full when we were there, it took awhile for the order to come out. Overall: Menu: 4stars Price: Food: 5stars Service: 3.5stars Highly recommend the restaurant!
I cannot believe that there was a sister restaurant to Wasabi and Ramen Takeya down the street from my house!? As soon as I found out we went for dinner. I love the lay out of the restaurant. Walking in I could feel the Wasabi vibe I know and love, with the soft wood accents and the bar back lighting but it felt also like a home-town Izakaya at the same time. I loved the wooden pagoda structures on the inside and the bamboo blinders on either side of the tables. It makes the space feel like you could hang out there with you friends all night, drinking and eating yakitori. They offer three versions of their locally famous ramen and all three are super delicious. However, this restaurant is more focused on Yakitori grilling. So for a couple of bucks per item you get one or two skewers of freshly grilled mean or veg. Simple cooking style but the quality of the protein/produce is phenomenal. Since our first visit a last month, we’ve been back at least once every weekend. Now, if they started selling the same Tokotsu ramen like the Wasabi store, I don’t think I would ever leave!
Pretty good ramen, better items to order is the yakitori. Selection is pretty good all of it is made to order. The takoyaki is very good, and the Sake list is extensive with very good selections. Lots of high grade Junmai sakes to choose from.
One of the finest izakaya in the area! I have stayed in Kyoto for three months and am very fond with Japanese food. This is truly authentic. Every time I feel saved by the food. The yakitori and karaage brought me back to the time I’m at Japan. I am really appreciate the existence of this restaurant!
My second time and it was as great as the first time. Tasty ramen, ordered Osaka Shio. Amazing
