We stopped off at this restaurant en route back from a trip up La Rhune. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great value and very welcoming too
Saving grace here was the enthusiastic waitress who helped us with choosing our meals and was very friendly. Food was average, huge king prawns but with little flavour and squid well cooked as mains. Reasonably priced house wine was good value. Avoid the loo!
We popped in this place mainly because it was so hot we had to abort a walking trip up la Rhune, it was shaded & had a couple of free tables, it turned out to be a bit of a find! The atmosphere is eclectic, the place is long & narrow, the proprietor wanders round & every now & then calls out what is on the specials menu of the day quite loudly! She seemed a bit eccentric but it gave the place an unusual atmosphere. The food was truly excellent, we opted for a cepe omelette which was filled with freshly gathered cepes, our friends had the local ham salad which was also great. The specials consisted of duck or hake, the table next to us opted for the hake & it looked (&smelled) wonderful. By the time we left people were queuing for a table which is always a good indicator of quality.
Dirty place, full of flies, very aggressive service, bad food, very poor value for money and obviously they do not like foreigners.
