I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of traditional dishes and homemade everything right down to the tortilla chips. The freshest guac in town and don 't get me started on the refried beans! Very kind staff and a surprisingly great atmosphere
We just moved to town in Aug, from Salem, OR where you can find lots of good (heavy, though Mexican food in the valley. We had tried another highly rated place in town this summer, but it was so heavy and no better than what we can get in Salem for less . I 'd heard that Agave was fresh and light, something different. So this afternoon was my first time dining in this vibrant little eatery. I had the fresh fish tacos of the day rockfish. They were grilled with delicious filling and served with rice pintos. I took some carnitas wet burritos home for son husband, and a chicken green chile tamale for myself, for an extra treat. All food was fresh, clean and wholesome tasting (that 's why I had room for the tamale treat later, ha ha! . Service was courteous knowledgeable. Seems like a nice place to eat, no matter the weather. The menu and accommodations can serve during the warm and the cool.
Delicious wild Alaskan tacos with avocado and picked onions was so colorful. Could have used some sort of light sauce like a cilantro lime crema but the fish was very well prepared. Sopa de lima was so good with a mild spice that just made it sing. Very good quality Mexican food. Margarita was serviceable, but nothing special. Nice staff, very efficient and lovely dining al fresco.
This creekside gem blew me away. The west coast (even the northern areas like Oregon) has a high bar when it comes to Mexican food and these guys exceeded it, and then some. I started off with their house special margarita (perfectly balanced, not overpowered with tequila and also not too sweet) and then had the fresh salsa with homemade chips (crisp, perfectly salted, not greasy whatsoever). The ceviche had a generous amount of shrimp and the complementary textures made it one of my favorites, and the tacos/beans/rice clinched the deal. The owner and management were totally on their game attentive without hovering, super friendly yet professional, and genuinely appreciative of each customer who chose Agave over the many other restaurants nearby. The protected patio overlooking the creek was intimate and provided great people watching as I enjoyed one of the best meals I've had in Ashland in years. Gracias Amigos!
Great location and cute. We went here for the first time. Probably won't be back. Shrimp tacos were rather high priced and rather boring with the bulk of cabbage being the memorable taste and texture. Partner was not too excited about pozole either.
