Jake's Place - Ashland

Great place. Visit frequently. Small dining space that's quiet most of the time and the table turnover rate is decent. The fries are amazing and they always have interesting special of the day dishes. The parking lot is very small and can run out of room easily. The menu variety is great and the in-laws in from Texas enjoyed the pulled pork. Bathrooms are clean. I would love to see healthier options, but the lack seems to be Virginia in general.

I never waste food and will pretty much eat anything. I could not eat my meal. The pulled pork was flavorless. The ribs were very fatty. What meat was there only tasted well with the BBQ sauce. Liquid smoke taste was noted and a little heavy. There was no flavor throughout the meat. The sweet potato fries were soggy and without much flavor. The hush puppies were very good and the fried green tomatoes were perfect.

I'm in love with this place! I've only been once but can't wait to go back!!

It has been a good while since I have been to Jake's Place, it was as good as I remembered. For appetizers we had the fried green tomatoes and onion rings, so good. I had the Brisket sandwich and sweet potato fries, I loved both. My sister said the Crab Cakes were delicious.
