If you’re like me and judge establishments by their taxidermy, there are not enough stars to hand out for The Mercantile in Atlantic City, WY. I’ve traveled extensively searching for pinnacle when it comes to rustic charm, and The Merc cannot be outdone. Beyond the aesthetics, the server at the bar was attentive to our needs and our lunch was fast and hit the spot after a day of blue grouse hunting at my secret spot (don’t bother asking me). I cannot wait for my next visit and hope I can make it in for a steak dinner soon, that is cooked on their open-flame grill seen in the photos.
Unfortunately, they were closing early so we didn't get to eat there. The person we talked to was very friendly. I was looking forward to seeing if their food had improved from our last visit. Guess we'll have to wait until next go round.
While off the beaten path, it is well worth the effort.
I read about it on facebook and thought it would be nice to be able to stop and partake of their food and check out everything that is in their mercantile. It is absolutly awesome. I would recommind it to everyone out of state or in Wyoming. I live in Montana but from Wyoming and have been through Atlantic City and South Pass City but it was always closed. Their steaks at dinner time are AWESOME. Make sure you call and make reservation for Dinner starting at 5:00 PM. Steaks are Tender with just the right amount of flavor. They do a great job. Highly Satified with the visit. Town needs to clean up areas around the town and get rid of junk and remark the sites but it was still awesome. make it tourist freindly to find all the sites on their map.
