On the last occasion, I got a burger and my spouse got a cuban. The bright spot was the appetizer, which was pimento cheese and chips. They were great. The main course was overly salty and the fries were well overdone and greasy. I've had way better burgers, too. In addition , we couldn't figure out our server – sometimes friendly, sometimes ticked. We went for lunch that was about $25 per person, without a drink and including the app. Overall, we probably won't be back anytime soon.Original review 2017Acre is one of the, if not the, best place to eat in the region. For a typical day, I would definitely recommend the lunch over the dinner, as it's very affordable and the meals are unmatched in taste and quality. We've had dinner here once or twice, and while great, we definitely prefer the lunch over that. The atmosphere inside and out are also amazing, love the pear trees and garden outside and the interior has a great feel and AMAZING smell. HIGHLY recommended.
I absolutely love Acre and have been to the restaurant about 10 times. My experience Saturday was wobbly, however. I had a reservation for 2 at 11:00 a.m., right when the restaurant opens. We arrived at 10:55 and checked in. At 11:20, we had still not been seated. I went to the hostess who said she checked in the wrong party and we were seated at about 11:25. We ordered two Acre burgers one cooked medium and one medium well. When one of the waiters brought the meal, I asked specifically how we were to know that mine was medium and my wife's was medium well. He explained something like I am guest 1 and she is guest 2 and they got them right. It sounded reasonable, but they got it wrong. They had clearly flipped the two, which we found out after each eating a bit of the burger. Finally, the fries were nearly inedible. I have never had more salty fries than yesterday at Acre. We finished with some salt butter ice cream, which was very good, as usual. The young woman who was our server was nice and upbeat and attentive. We don't just like Acre; we love Acre. Yesterday's meal experience was a real letdown.
Very nice atmosphere and service was good…..Ordered scallops which were warm and very bland. My husband ordered Spinach dinner salad, which was very sparse and tasteless. We ordered desert which was supposed to have been tiramisu but was actually cheesecake with chocolate and coffee liquor. We were disappointed with the overall meal. We will not return. Food was over rated.
We sat on the indoor porch for lunch. It 's a little loud in there because of the tight space and echo. The only reason I am giving four stars for atmosphere. The food is excellent, try the cornbread, you won 't be disappointed.
The good: our server, Sara, was very friendly and did a great job although the food took quite a while to come out. The fried green tomatoes were delicious. The scallops, served over grits with a saffron broth, were also delicious and cooked perfectly. The meh : The pork porterhouse was way overcooked and bone dry which is hard to fathom with a 2 inch chop and the Meyer lemon mustard vinaigrette was overly sweet. The lamb, Brussels sprouts and crispy taters were overly salty. The place was busy which is great, but also very noisy. The drinks were fine and the peanut butter pie topped with a banana meringue was tasty.
