Needing comfort food tonight, we decided to order takeout from the new thai basil restaurant near us. The takeout service was incredibly fast and was ready when they said it would be. The crab cheese wontons were tasty and held up well to the takeout process which isn’t always the case with fried dishes. The sauce with them scared me a bit with its bright red color but it wasn’t nearly as sweet as it looked. The vietnamese egg rolls were also good and came with nice accompaniments. I was disappointed that the lettuce leaves they came with were completely soggy from the heat of the egg rolls and couldn’t be used to wrap up the egg rolls. On the other hand the slivers of fried garlic mixed in with the rice noodles blew me a way. A great addition. My panang curry was good. The chicken was white meat and high quality, an absolute requirement. The portion was huge and the inclusion of sweet potatoes in the curry was a nice touch. We requested the dishes to be spicy when we ordered and I was disappointed in the lack of heat in the dish but enjoyed it none the less. Will be having a few more meals with the leftovers. Finally we had the pad thai. Again a little disappointed in the lack of heat but a good pad thai. My husband actually complained that there was too much meat and he really likes the noodles but I doubt many people would have a problem with that. Need to try it again when we are in the mood for the more adventurous dishes on the menu but for a night of comfort food and football it totally worked for me tonight.
This place is a joke. After being charged for a large draft beer, the bartender found out that none of the taps were working that day – it was not the morning – and decided to simply give me a bottle instead, which is priced far less. Aside from me, there was only one other person in the entire restaurant, and she had to walk up to the bar and ask for a check, she was waiting at her table so long with noone coming by. Another guy walked in and waited at the hostess counter about 5 minutes until someone gave him the time of day. The food was nothing special, service totally non-existent. With so many other options in the area, it is no wonder there was nobody in the place during lunch rush time.
