I literally turned around when I saw the sign for 'NY Style Garbage Plates ' and was not disappointed as a ROC native. The hot sauce has a nice Texas kick to it. Absolutely amazing!
Packing that real deal! Late night kitchen dinner mash-up with a great smile.
For me it hits all the markers for great drunk food: meaty, saucy, a little spicy, and a lot of it, without a care in the world about what you think. That's also how I might describe the drunk me as well, so it works I guess. Got The Texan: beef and pulled pork over macaroni salad and baked beans, with onions, mustard and good portion of French bread to soak up them juices. It is a box full of food, and very well priced for the amount you get. Seriously, I'm a card carrying member of the clean plate club, and couldn't put the whole thing away. It ain't escargot and it ain't caviar, but I'd much rather have a garbage plate than snails and fish eggs, no matter how fancy that makes me. The baked beans, and macaroni salad surprisingly work well as the base, adding a tangy sweetness that really complements the meat and sauce, which has a nice heat and a pop of curry that I just love. Tasty beef and pulled pork, and the diced onions added a nice crunch. All of the individual flavors really tie in together with the sauce, which brings it all home. At times it kinda reminded me of a chili mac, for those who know. Going back soon!
An upstate NY delicacy, the garbage plate. Great quality food, great owner, and a wonderfully full stomach after downing one of these huge garbage plates. Will definitely be back for more!
