They offer an impressive range of treats, from elegant croquembouche towers for special occasions to the classic vanilla slice. The menu also includes a selection of savory options like sandwiches, pies, pastries, and quiches, making me wish I had chosen to have my main meal here as well.
No card payments accepted? In this day and age? I stopped by to grab a coffee, a pie, and a cake during my lunch break (which were all delicious, by the way), only to find out that they only take cash. I was even willing to pay a surcharge to cover any bank fees for them, but it was still cash only. Cash-only businesses in today’s world make me a bit wary.
Australian businesses that only accept cash while having a cash machine in the corner seem quite cynical towards their customers, and Choux Choux is one such establishment. They argue that they choose not to install EFTPOS to avoid bank fees, but often, businesses like this just factor those fees into their prices. For instance, Choux Choux charges $4.40 for a small takeaway latte, yet they do not offer EFTPOS payment options. I recommend skipping this place; it feels like a cash grab. But then again, what can you expect from a business in Double Bay, or Bangalow for that matter?

The pastries are incredible!
