Shepherds Cafe And Fish And Chips

We have frequented this cafe multiple times and have always had a great experience. It is one of the most affordable cafes in the area, with a spacious interior and ample seating. The food is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. We highly recommend it.

Comfortable, clean and very pleasant staff. A very extensive menu. Quite busy and all customers seem happy. But this must have been the worst burger that I have ever been served. The over toasted bun was like card. Burger had been on the griddle too long and a total absence of garnish. Both the chef and the waitress, when they served it, MUST have known it was substandard. Got to say the freshly cooked fish and chips looked OK.

We sat down and before we could even open the menu the waitress was at our table asking what we wanted and i told her we havent had a minute to look yet...she came back a few minutes later and said we are closing in half an hour. so i asked her will we have enough time to eat, i don't like to rush my food and she said yes it would be ok. i ordered steak, chips, onion rings etc and i received bacon, roast potatoes and onion rings and when i challenged the waitress about it not being steak she said its definately steak and laughed. When i tasted it, it was the saltiest bacon i have ever had in my life. It was truly digusting. plus everything is frozen and not fresh. i sent my food back and the waitress was laughing and making faces with who i later found out was supposed to be the manager. when i received the correct food the steak was like rubber, the roast potatoes (which i didnt even order were very hard) the onion rings had no onions in them and were soggy the peas and chips were ok I know i should have sent this meal back as well but i am diabetic and had to eat. As i was finishing my meal the waitress stood and called from the other side of the cafe to say that we had to get out as they closed at 9 o'clock and i said to her that she had told me that i would be given enough time to eat ....her attitude was very rude and she kept repeating the time they close. i went up the man and asked him if was the owner, he said yes and walked away from me to the back door and lit a cigarette. i followed him and asked him again are you the owner and he looked at me blankly, meanwhile the rude waitress was directly behind me and said that the boss had gone home. i told her that this man had said that he is the manager but i realised that he could not speak a word of English. The waitress became more agitated and was rolling her eyes as i explained all of the above to her and all she kept saying was we close at 9. you should have given the food back and i would have changed it again. i explained that if i had given the food back yet again i would not have had enough time to eat it as she was already telling us to leave. she tried her hardest to interupt everything i was saying but i would not let her and she showed her dislike very much. I told her she was being very rude and she said loudly No i am not rude!!! I tried to explain to her whilst we paid the bill that i needed to speak to the manager about this whole situation and she told me he doesnt speak English to which i said ...if he is the manager he needs to be able to deal with any complaint that comes up. It is not good enough to just speak to the person I have the complaint with. she then said yeah so what ...i will tell him the details when you leave...to which i said that this is no good, he needs to know now...but she wouldn't have it. I know i shouldn't really have paid the bill but i did and she over charged me on top of it. She told me to come back tomorrow and the boss will be in ...i told her i live too far away and couldn't come back. then she smirked and walked away. My whole experience was terrible in this place and i will NEVER go back there to eat again !!!!! I am totally disgusted at the nature of how my complaint was dealt with.

Lovely food with great service, but wouldl not recommend having a jacket potato as wasnt to my liking

Went to this cafe for the first time yesterday while on a day out in London ,had Gammon Steak ,Chips ,Egg and Mushrooms ,Portions were huge ,really good value and with a glass of Coke the whole meal came to just over £5 ! ,i will definitely use this cafe again,nice big room ,plenty of tables and chairs so you are not jammed up against each other too!
