La Columbiana Kaffeeroesterei - Basel

Best small place for coffee in Basel. Have a loyal customer for many years and will not change my source of Colombian coffee beans.

The customers of La Columbiana started to come as soon as the place opened for business in the morning, so that the locals and tourists had done their homework in the timing to get to the opening hours. The square is located on the back of the main railway station at the station entrance Gundeldingen. This is a small place with about five walking tables. Inside there are about 14 tight and comfortable stools at the bar, two main window seat tables with padded chairs at each side of the entrance with great views of the walkway. No need to ask if they carry a milk substitute, as your options are listed on the main wall menu. I had the soy milk hot chocolate (4.80CHF), which was delicious and served with a glass of water to ask with-out. All this in addition to free, secure Wi-Fi. The gentleman who leads the square was good, friendly and welcoming. A great visit!

I liked this place. The coffee, the deserts and service were very good. One of the best place for breakfast in Basel for me!

Service was excellent. I was quite demanding since I asked this super cute place for WiFi, toilet etc but they helped me with a smile. I tried the espresso which was really smooth and strong. I also had a bitter orange soda from South of...Switzerland and a ham and cheese croissant all of it way above my expectations. I'd recommend this place to anyone who has an while to spare and want a good experience.

I am from Basel and i loved for 4 years in the neighborhood amd it has always been one of my favourite coffee places... the smell of fresh roasted coffee, the cosy atmosphere, the friendly service, the delicious cakes... in winter it's great if you...get one of the few window tables to look at the passersbys while sipping your hot beverage and in summer you can enjoy your break at one of the small tables just outside with a cooling summer breeze.
