The service was absolutely terrible that day, I’ve had much better experiences there. The soda machine didn’t work, but he didn’t tell us that, so some of our sodas were served flat, and vodkas with uncarbonated tonic and soda waters. Food was still good but missing a bit of salt. Seemed to be an off day.
I enjoyed the empanada sampler. Our entrees were good but I noticed that portions of the menu had changed and I liked the old menu better.
On Bayside's busy Bell Blvd. restaurant row, Sabor Guarani offers an undiscovered Latin American cuisines. Some indigenous Guarani dishes (hence the restaurant's name , some meat dishes (since Paraguay is a big cattle-raising country , mostly unfamiliar to me. All were first-rate, especially the passion fruit custard dessert. The restaurant is moderate-priced, so don't expect a lot in the way of decor, but it's pleasant, and the young waiter (owner? was friendly and informative. I can't wait to go back.
A little gem of a place with fabulous--and I mean that--fabulous food, a lovely, attentive staff, and charming ambiance. The Sangria is excellent! (There is more than one type). I love the large black and white photos on the walls of Paraguayan culture. Every time I go I tell myself to try something new but I always order the skirt steak and yucca. Note: I generally do NOT eat steak. Here, it is superb. There is live music on Saturday evening and although it is nice it is VERY loud and inhibits conversation. A tweak of the amplifier should fix that. Note: there is a non published credit card surcharge. Photos copyright the author
