Brasserie du Lac de la Prade - Bazas

A lovely restaurant overlooking a lake, although busy the service was good and the food exceptional for the price. I always go there when I am here in France.

Our first time there and was told by friends how good it was. we met for lunch,about 1230 and it was fairly full. we were shown a table overlooking the lake. the menu was on a blackboard,which was small and hard to see. it had about six main courses and deserts. we all chose but was told that they had run out of two of the items,a bit early we thought as though there were quite a few people eating,it was not packed to capacity . what we ended up with was ok,but not really what we wanted.

This is a lakeside restaurant just a few miles from Bazas with plenty of parking that my wife and I and our family visited one Saturday evening in August. The situation is perfect with beautiful views across the lake and the forested area in the distance. Watch out for opening hours because they only open in the evening on Saturday, otherwise it is lunchtime throughout the week. The restaurant is a large modern building with terrace which is a must in the summer months. Notably the menu states that produce is fresh and dishes are made on the premises. They also use the famous Bazas beef. We had some excellent snails in a tomato sauce, melon balls with crispy pancetta, brique de chevre – a version of the Tunisian dish, milfuille of vegetables Bazas veal chop in a sauce and some of the best Swordfish we have tasted in years. The children’s menu was beef or chicken. There was ice cream fr the children and a blancmange type dessert with fruit plus cheese. The wine list is fairly short and features some local wines Service is good and the owner and his wife are friendly and welcoming. We paid €184 for 4 adults and two children including wine, water and children’s drinks and we would certainly recommend the restaurant.

Everything about this is place was lovely. Beautifully set by the lakeside with tranquil, exceptional views. Good service and excellent value for money at lunchtime. Food was good and a relaxed atmosphere. I would feel comfortable eating here alone.Plenty parking spaces and delightful walks round the lake.Go soon and enjoy!

Friendly staff, beautiful setting and very good food. Well worth a visit especially if you want to impress your visitors ! I am a vegetarian and to eat in France is sometimes not too easy, they catered for me very well and without the "look" I usually get when I ask for something veggie. I cannot recommend this place enough, maybe good to book though !
