The Cake Shop Putnoe - Bedford

£3.80 for a small filled roll! I can get a full fry-up for that in London and the bacon's fried instead of microwaved. I appreciate everyone's overheads are going up at the moment but this place was already expensive, now with their latest price rises it's just ridiculous. It's useful this place being local but so is McDonald's. For the price of a roll I can get three burgers and the coffee is almost twice the size for half the price too.

Stopped here today for an unplanned breakfast stop and Im already planning to go back! Poached eggs on toast were blissful; eggs not so much yellow as sunshine orange. Properly poached with light whites and runny yokes. I accompanied this with a regular Latte which came in a good sized glass mug; first latte I have had in recent memory that has either been hot enough when served or hot enough to remain hot whilst I ate. This was both. The fact that the shop is brilliantly air conditioned was just the icing on the cake (excuse the pun) on such a hot day as today. Sauce was also served in a bottle and not those silly little plastic packets which I struggle to open. At £7.80 in total I feel this is very good value for the quality.

The restaurant is just okay, but like many other places, the coffee and cake are overpriced. There are better dining options available. The jacket potatoes are small for the price, but the coffee was tasty though expensive.

Decided on a piece of vegan chocolate cake today and it was delicious . Staff always pleasant, food is great value too.

We used to enjoy visiting this restaurant on a weekly basis, but now we find it to be quite overpriced and the staff to be rude. Paying £10 for a jacket potato with cheese and beans is excessive, especially considering that the establishment is more of a cafe in a residential area rather than a high-end gastro pub. The staff's attitude was dismissive when we requested skimmed milk in our drink, making us feel like we were inconveniencing them. Additionally, there was confusion when ordering drinks and the staff seemed unorganized. As the cost of living rises, I believe this restaurant may struggle to stay competitive if they do not improve their service quality.
