The staff at this restaurant are very friendly and lovely, but unfortunately, their warmth does not make up for the lack of effort put into the disappointing gourmet facade. The Sunday dinner was not worth the high price, as the meat was overcooked and dry, the stuffing was flavorless, and there was a lack of vegetables in the small roasting dish. The roast potatoes were the only positive aspect, as they were fluffy and crisp. The gravy was too thick and lacked flavor. The vegetarian sweet potato nut roast was disappointing, as it was just a factory-made burger patty. The portion sizes were small and not good quality for the price. The desserts were lackluster, with the cheesecake being mostly cream on a soggy base. The cheeseboard was outdated and could have used better quality cheese. The decor was also unappealing, with mottos written in marker on the beams. The bathroom was not in good condition either, as the bin was overflowing with dirty tissues. Despite the lovely staff, the restaurant overall offers poor quality food, is overpriced, and feels outdated.
Walked up the road to the local village pub for the first time in ages. Told they did food and thought give it a go. Garlic mushrooms to start and then some steak and chips. Theakstones old peculiar to wash it down. Will pop back again the next time I can't be bothered to cook.
Friendly staff and a chef who really knows how to cook. We had a delicious steak, will definitely be back.
Very cosy country pub, warm welcome and very friendly staff. The food was excellent and have to say the best Guinness I’ve had for a very long time. Thank you
