Before the new owner Redwood was the best deli in the city for a tri tip, now you better expect it to take 20 minutes or call it in 20 minutes ago for a sandwich. The quality of the deli has dropped significantly, they do not have so many offers (dutch crunch) the tri tip is completely different than the new owners would not buy the recipe to the OG (here-say). Not terrible, but not where it was. I wish they would spend some more time perfecting this aspect of the company, as I am sure that most profits are made.
I've been coming to the Redwood Keg since I was 5 years old. I moved out of the area years ago, but whenever I come to visit my hometown I make a stop for some tri-tip. On my last visit, I was surprised to find that the couple who owned it for so many years had sold it. The new owners have put a lot of time and effort into polishing up the store and deli. It feels very fresh and clean, but it still has the charm of the old Keg. The new owners have kept the old recipes, and my tri-tip sandwich was just as garlicky and tasty as always. This is still the best spot to grab a sandwich if you're in the area, especially if you're going on a hike or heading to the river.
I've been going to Redwood Keg for decades. The new owners have reduced the quality of the ingredients in the Deli. The new sandwiches are not terrible, but are a far cry from what was the standard. If you are looking for a delicious fresh sandwich in the area, I suggest Wild Roots Market or Johnnie's Super Market.
I went to her famous bellybuster sandwich and landed Korean Special on her first Friday. We got the beef bulgogi and Bibimbap, and I saw some glass noodle in the back, so I asked if she did something japchae. She said she didn't plan to do something today, but she'll do something to me that's sweet Oni~ I was when I tasted such authentic Korean homemade food after 2 weeks in the woods. Solid sandwich and Korean home cooking. What a jewel! P.S. You can also get Shin-Ramen and Cup Noodles there.
