Dee Rene's - Bourbonnais

To start off, the chicken was undercooked—one piece was even a bit pink near the bone, so I had to throw it away. The mac and cheese was overly soupy and didn’t appear to have been baked. I wondered if they might have given me a pre-prepared dish that someone mistakenly assumed was cooked fully; it was unnaturally bright in color and extremely watery. As for the collard greens, which are usually my favorite, they were a major disappointment. They were completely unseasoned, aside from perhaps some overly spicy cayenne pepper or a Cajun seasoning that didn’t work at all. The pot liquor tasted like plain water. I honestly make better greens at home. I wish I had saved my money and cooked the entire meal myself. This is not the soul food experience I was hoping for, and I wouldn't consider dining here again. If you want great chicken wings, go to Captain Hook's; they have the best around. And when it comes to mac and cheese, I'd rather get it from the noodle company.

This place is a hidden gem in the mall! The greens and the cornbread are absolutely fantastic.

Incredible! I just ordered the rib tips along with three sides and some spicy BBQ right before closing, and wow, it was fantastic! Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
