I have previously enjoyed their fantastic Sunday lunch, but on this particular Friday, the meal was lackluster. My pork dish was flavorless, making me question if I had lost my sense of taste. My friend, Debbie, had the pie, which had some flavor, reassuring me that my taste buds were intact. However, at £18 for a pie and chips, I think the prices are too high for what is offered.
I recently had lunch at this restaurant with a friend, my first visit in years. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options available. The portions were huge and the food was very tasty. It was also great value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of parking in the car park, although it can get very busy in the evenings. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Recommended by our local hotel as a great place for fish and chips. The food was delicious and the small English pub atmosphere added to the experience. It felt like we were eating at home with friends. It was my first night in England, so I decided to try the fish and chips with mushy peas (they served haddock). We also ordered a pork belly appetizer that came with a side of something green and hearty bread pudding. The fish had a light and crispy coating. My wife ordered the Snapper special which came with a delicious risotto. For dessert, we had English puddings- I chose sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Overall, a great dining experience.
Previously a really nice pub, but now under new management and has definately downhill. the new menu is not what they would call traditional pub food. bring them back intimately!
Popped in for some Taylor’s mild, wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but not the worst bar maid sulky and non verbal- decor more cheery than the bar staff
