I had the chicken in garlic sauce with brown rice (says it was spicy, but I didn't think it was) along with wonton sooo and my bf had his usuals sweet and sour chicken with white rice. My bf judges all Chinese places on their white rice. Dragon East was a winner! I also enjoyed my chicken with garlic sauce. Packed with lots of crisp veggies. My brown rice was also good! The only downside is this place is pricey, but I guess you pay for the quality. We will keep this place in our takeout rotation for sure.
Dragon East is your typical average to below average Chinese restaurant on the Shoreline of CT. Dishes loaded with sugar, salt and sauces... making for a most unauthentic Americanized Chinese food that appeals to the people who have limited experience with authentic Chinese food. Kind of like the fast food of Chinese food. The menu is a duplicate of any of the other average Chinese restaurants on the shoreline and someone could blindfold you and take you to any one of them and you wouldn't know the difference. We were a party of five and ordered 5 main courses, two appetizers, a side of rice and a drink for two and the bill was $145 which is probably about average. The meal was bland and uninspiring, a one and done.
Just did lunch take out from this establishment. On the lunch menu shrimp lobster sauce was 15.00. Seriously, that is about double what it is for the lunch special in most other Chinese restaurant. The woman waited on me should learn how to smile and say thank you. When I brought my bag in the house the wonton soup top was not secured properly and some of the soup had leaked. Thanks but no thanks. To top it all off the portions are parsimonious and the food is about average. Nothing to write home about
I dined here a few weeks ago while visiting my in-laws and have zero complaints. The prices are very reasonable and the portions were sized just right so you didn 't have a bubble tummy at the end of your meal. My husband and I split the chicken/vegetables and the combo fried rice. I was surprised that the ratio of meat far outweighed the vegetables (I am weird, but I enjoy the veggies more). Our server, I forgot his name, but he had started working only a few weeks prior, was so nice and provided great service. The house spicy mustard was so good, but could be a little more spicy--it complemented the egg rolls and the crab/cream cheese ragoons well.
Conflicted. Standard Chinese fare, a few Thai additions to try to capture that segment. Pro: Quality is better than other places in the area. Dining room is very nice. The other places around are dumpy take out joints. Con: 1. Pricey. Entrees are $17-18, lunches are $13. Basically you're paying for the dining room whether you use it or not. 2. Small portions. I've now gotten lunch specials twice and at $13+ tax, this better be a heap of food. It isn't. It's good, but you better savor it because they don't give you much. Like 4 pieces of beef small. The other places around you're looking at $7 lunches and you get more food. I think I have to move on from eating here for lunch. What you get for the price just doesn't line up.
