Birdland Jazz Club - Broad Channel

Another one of those places that I always visit. The food is actually very good. The bar tender is one of my favourites in NYC as not only is he polite and friendly, but also makes the best margarita! I've seen many shows here and particularly enjoy the open mic nights where you get to see many performers in one night.

I usually only write 5 stars reviews, but I had to leave this one because I wasn’t treated fairly. I visited with two of my friends on 1/13. For 8:30pm appointment, we got there at 7:30 since the sits are “first come first serve.” Around 8:10pm, one woman asked my group to move, very passive aggressively, so that she can sit with five of her friends. The Monday night Cast Party events are always epic, not to be missed if you haven't had the opportunity. Always unique!

Big disapointment. We are used to good jazz music and artists and thought that by entering one of the genre's iconic places in NYC we'd be having an awesome experience. Unfortunately we were very far from it, at least at the Susie Mosher show. Some of the artist were good…but to few, and performing for a very brief period, leaving way too much time for cheap jokes and unpleasant singing by the host. Very nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of the street. I thought it was a little pricey but the atmosphere didn't disappoint. And The Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble was beautiful ️ We got there not long before closing and had just enough time for a bottle of champagne. I'm sure the food is amazing!
