I have never heard of Yun Nan (crossing bridge) noodles before, but it's beautifully presented ingredients/toppings ranging from veggies to meats and seafood presented on a bridge or wooden box before it gets dumped into your hot stone soup bowl by the server. Tip: take your food pics immediately when the toppings come out because they will waste no time pouring everything into your soup. The soup itself is a mild bone broth with soft rice noodles. I enjoyed it thoroughly. You are also served hot jasmine tea, which was pleasantly flavored.
I came here with my cousin and her boyfriend while visiting NYC on a business trip. We came here because another place that my cousin was trying to take us to was full. The place wasn't busy when we got there. My cousin and I mostly just ordered skewers, but her boyrfriend ordered the meat bread and potstickers. I had a few different types of skewers. Aside from the lamb, the rest of the skewers were dry/overcooked. I had a taste of the other items that my cousin's bf ordered, and they were OK, nothing spectacular. My cousin raved about the spicy soup there. Maybe that's what they are more known for. The staff was attentive, and the food came out fast, so service overall was good. This is just not a place that I am eager to go back to again.
Came by for a Saturday lunch they weren't exactly full, but there was a bit of a queue to get seated just a bit understaffed . Since I was by myself I got seated at the long table in the middle with all of the other solo diners, very communal authentic of them LOL The interior is really nicely decorated with a very pretty fountain plant in the centre.I ordered the beef guo qiao rice noodle 肥牛過橋米線) each order comes with the meat and a bunch of side toppings mine had 6 plates with maybe 10? unique things separately from broth and the rice noodles. Some orders on other tables had the dishes plated on a small wooden eponymous bridge or a staircase, which looked super cool! After they bring all the food to your table, the waitress puts in all the ingredients, meat, and noodles in the broth in front of you and mixes. This is traditonally part of the guoqiao mixian experience, and I guess this is also good if you like taking aesthetic food spread photos, because the final product doesn't really showcase all the yummy toppings.Anyways, it was super delicious. The broth was really rich and smelled wonderful; not too salty, either, and it was nice to sip on each bite with the noodles and at the end of the meal as well. The toppings were overall nice. Carrots were a little bitter unripe for my taste, although I suppose it's always a bit hit or miss when eating raw. The 香酥 I have no idea what this is called in English but the crispy fried brown thing was surprisingly tasty; not too oily or heavy and paired really nicely with the broth. I also like the tofu skin, wish they would have given more.Beef was super delicious very thinly sliced, tender, juicy, and its flavour cooking in the soup really made the broth just that extra bit savoury.Overall a very great meal and Very filling portion sizes are evidently quite large, so definitely come here when you are hungry. Price point was fantastic, too my meal was around $20 incl tax tip ? For such a nice sit down place in Flushing I think it's entirely worth.Would love to come again, there are loads of other sets sides that I'm keen to try although I might try to get someone to come with me then, not sure if I can finish all the food myself lol Also apparently this place is on Beli's top 10 Chinese food in NYC ? Like, hm, it was really quite good but I feel like I can think of 10 better Chinese restaurants. anyway.
This place has their unique take on rice noodle soup. I got their house special guy qiao rice noodle soup. They bring out the soup along with all the ingredients that will be put into your bowl of soup. The broth was good.this was a generous amount of meat and veggies added into the broth. Service was quick. It also came with a free passion fruit drink.
Haven't had a bad dinner here yet. Must have been at least a dozen times or so now. Their soup broths are delicious of course, but surprisingly, their pan fried dumplings and skewers are excellent as well. The staff service are always on point. They're very fast and attentive. Plenty of staffing for the size of the restaurant which makes waiting times pretty minimal. I only took a star off because even though the decor includes a table aquarium with some goldfish, I found it to be kind of sad (just started an aquarium at home, lol).
