Cafe Twenty-three Hundred - Burnet

Out of business and for sale. Too bad I liked the place. This was a nice and quiet place.

Saw it on Yelp with a great rating so thought I'd try it. I had pasta with marinara meat sauce and a dinner salad. The salad was fresh and served in a cold dish making it even better. The down side was they didn't over any crackers or saltines with it. The pasta was a very decent portion and the meat sauce was nicely done. The down side, it came with one minuscule slice of french bread sliced about a half-inch thick. Either serve it with 2-3 pieces of bread or make it a Texas Toast size cut. They didn't offer any Parmesan cheese or pepper flakes to accompany. I had a cold beer which was served chilled and dressed with a salt rim, I asked for plain no salt, no lime. Beer prices are extravagant. Any bottle of beer shouldn't cost over $3 and especially not at this restaurant. The waitress was attentive, polite and easy to get along. Apparently, this is not the same restaurant owners that were getting fabulous reviews. Keep on working on your ideas and maybe you will succeed. No Senior nor military discount offered to me.

My husband has the Italian Spicy Aribiata dish with chicken. It came with spaghetti and a roll for $14 and was very over priced for the quality. I had the catfish with fries and broccoli. Catfish was swimming in oil. Broccoli had an unpleasant crunch with their 'secret ' spices. French fries and roll were too oily. Hubby ate his overpriced dish. I finished the broccoli and 3 bites of the fish. I wish I would 've taken a photo. We won 't ever go back.

Destined to fail....first of all this place is clearly been bought out by someone new...Two out of the three meals that we ordered were returned... The pasta sauce was bitter and tasted burnt and the chicken was extremely rubbery. When we went to the checkout the waitress informed us that she could offer us free desserts... But beyond that she would need her manager... A young man came out from the back and said with attitude just take it off there tab. The waitress seemed like she did not know how to do that so he stepped in to run the register... He was very agitated and extremely Dismissive. He never once said I apologize or this is not the norm ... He just took our money gave change and walked away.I asked the waitress who he was and she informed me that he is the new owner... She then apologized for his attitude. Overall if I could give zero stars I would... This restaurant is riding on the coattails of the once great restaurant that was there. I will not be returning.

The calzone bough was good the parts that weren't blackened. Don't stop here. The onion, bell pepper, mushrooms were not sautéed the sauce tasted store bought.
