Deanna's Village Inn - Cairo

I stopped in earlier for a slice of pizza with my mom while waiting for my laundry to finish. This place has always been grimy and a little gross, but I try to patronize local businesses and I heard it was under new management, so I figured I 'd try it again. There was absolutely nothing in the display, and the young guy behind the counter barely acknowledged us. After a little interrogation, we discovered nothing was cooking. Another guy who was outside stepped in while we were paying for drinks to tell us pizza would be ready soon (either he was lying, or the first guy was just too dumb to function). Whatever. My mom paid for two slices and we told them we 'd be back in a few minutes. We came back a little while later and the pizza was ready. I say pizza because it was barely more than half melted cheese on flimsy bread. It was clearly underdone, and what little sauce was on it was very watery; you could literally see the oil separating from the puddles of pale pink water on my side plate. I don 't know if they spilled the shaker or what, but I took a bite and spit it out because of how salty it was. I 'm sorry, but a new coat of (ugly) paint is not enough to entice me to ever go back.

So I am writing this review while still sitting in the parking lot in disgust... decided to go to the pizza buffet for the first time today. I will NEVER come back. The food was freezing cold and there were a few pieces of pizza that look like they have been sitting there since yesterday. My son honestly took the pieces and wasted them in hopes of them bringing out a new pizza. My husband and son are still inside waiting. Too add to the terrible food when i walked outside one of the workers or possibly the owner came running out asking if anyone rang me up!!! For 1. my husband and son are still inside and 2. i shouldn 't even have to pay for that GARBAGE!!!! UGHHHH!!! I feel nauseous!!! If anyone reads this and decides to give it try anyway, i wish you luck!

I stumbled across this place about a year ago. I was hangry, and just needed calories. Didn't expect to find the best pizza in Greene county!!! I've been there numerous times since, they recognize me now, and it never amazes me to find how happy I am with their pizza.

Outstanding service, fantastic food, and a very comfortable and clean environment. Thanks for a great lunch! Update 07/08/2017: The above was my original review. It was, unfortunately, the only good meal I have had there. After 4 disastrous visits on different occasions, I was left embarrassed in front of my guests each time by the incredibly poor quality of food and sub-par service. The wings were drowned in what tasted like ketchup mixed with BBQ sauce to the point they were inedible. The pizzas were under-cooked, overwhelmingly greasy, and the toppings did not taste fresh. We were also not given a sufficient number of plates, flatware, cups, straws, etc. Our group were the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of our visit, so the mistakes are hard to understand. An employee came to our table and summoned my adult daughter, making her have to leave her young children at the table, to offer her a job making deliveries for them. The action was especially irritating as we had out-of-town guests who had traveled distances just to have family-time together. This was absolutely inappropriate while a family is together having dinner! I am completely disappointed and truly hope this restaurant returns to its original quality for food, atmosphere, and service.

Great pizza and tasty wings. Great customer service and greetings from our chef. Very clean and great hospitality. Cannot wait to get more food, either eat-in or take-out, both are superb. Happy to see the Village is running strong, thank you Deanna and staff.
