Big Al's Pizza - Calgary

A weekly drink and a bit of fun with the most of the mals see to play. the service is good and appropriate for ghosts. I didn't try to eat. I think this place could be busy at a weekend as they have live bands.

Big Al's is all done in wood. It's rustic but the food is excellent . Had a pizza out of this world. Also the steak dinner was fantastic. Didn't stay long enough for the band but I'm sure it was good, Also if you feel...like gambling a little they have slots for you to play . A good night was had by all and the owners are always there making sure your happy.

We went to Big Al's last night and had a real good time. First with a delicious steak dinner, then later on a delicious pizza. They have gambling slots there too but I wasn't real successful there. The owners are always on the lookout to...make sure your having a good time. Didn't stay for the band but I'm sure it was probably good. Fun was had by all.

I was recently in calgary for the high time of my sister. a good friend of mine who lives in calgary suggested we go one night to big al to hear some live music. years ago I played in a rock band in calgary and he thought I could hear a local band. I mentioned my niece where we go and she said that big al's not located in the most desirable part of the city. After I had lived in calgary before, I was aware of it. Anyway, I decided to go, regardless of the situation and the result turned out to be a good decision.... for the greatest part. the reason why I give this place a 5-star rating is because of three things. especially eating. this is a bar and grill, but eating was excellent. my friend had the daily special, fish and chips, and I had a pizza. over the years I have eaten at a series of different pizzas in calgary, including boston pizza, which is a popular chain of pizza restaurants. I found the pizza I had at big al to be one of the best pizzas I had in a time. second, the service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive all the time we were there. I find it interesting that they can go to a place like earl 's (a popular restaurant chain that we visited a few nights ago) and get so-so service and then get to a place like big al 's go and get excellent service. when they think about it, some of the best waiters are found in dives. I wonder why this is, after all, the background music was brilliant (at least for me). they played classical rock music from the 70s. not the witness you always listened to classic rock radio, but songs I hadn't heard for years, but loved back the day and still did. the only negatiw I have is that the band sucked and the reason we went first there for the music was. When I was in bands for years, I could say that the lead guitar player was the driving force behind the songs they played. Unfortunately he wasn't so good and tortured most songs they played. yes, big al 's is in a part of the city that is less than desirable. the klientel is an interesting baptism, but if you are looking for a cold brew at a reasonable price, some great food, great service and hopefully, good live music, check out big al 's.

Great bar. big bands especially their country bands. very comfortable for hanging a group. vlt’s are a bit annoying and the kind of people they often have. very nice.
