We didn't really want a big meal or buffet and we chose this sports bar, hoping to find a quiet, cool place to relax and weren't disappointed. I chose the "Tot Chos," which was basically a meal of tater tots loaded with green onions, tomatoes etc. and served with sour cream, and other sides and a tea for $12. Valerie chose some shoestring french fries for $5. I would have enjoyed a more generous topping of green onions and tomatoes than I received instead of the large amount of tater tots because I was unable to finish them but the service was quick and the area mostly deserted, despite the fact that it was mid-day at the Stampede. My friend Valerie was happy with her fries and finished all of them. Lots of TV screens to view sports and quiet, comfortable dark corners to unwind in. Neither one of us wanted any alcohol so I can't give my opinion of that but we thought it was a good choice on a hot day.
My husband and I chose to visit Dutton's while at the Calgary stampede park instead of eating midway food. The restaurant is definitely a pub type experience. We were told to sit anywhere and were promptly approached by a server. Quick service considering the venue. We ordered two different burgers (Lava burger for me and Red Eye Burger for husband) with fries/tots. Both were tasty, but didn't really care for the black broche bun. We chose coffee and water to drink. It is about the price of most restaurants that we have visited in Calgary. The price vs the food is a little on the high side...but the food is good.
They've recently updated their menu - better choices. We sometimes go before a hockey game because the food in the Saddledome gets a bit boring over time.
Pretty basic pub-type experience. Grab a quick snack and drink pre-game and you can't go wrong. Staff is very good.
We wanted a dinner before the Duran Duran concert and went to Duttons Restaurant in the Saddledome. The staff were clearly busy but were attentive and friendly. They were sensitive to food allergies. The wine choices are very modest but there are lots of beers and mixed drinks to choose from. The food we properly prepared and tasty. Plan to get there early as the tables are taken quickly before a show or hockey game.
