Zephyr On The Charles - Cambridge

I was really surprised that I was so underwhelmed. I made a reservation, but no reservation seating. I sat in the middle of the restaurant without a view. The site said I chose the last of two reservations and when I arrived, the place was far from the crowd, which is why I could not understand my seating. My waitress took a very long time to come to us, then our order took very long to arrive. The food was just okay, nothing spectacular. My waitress was not very attentive and did not refill my water until I finished my meal, nor did she check us out. In addition, I had to wait a while until I arrived. I have to say that I was expecting the reputation of the Hyatt Hotel where the restaurant was located.

My friend and I went to dinner on Friday night. We drive in December every year after an annual event, and for a few years the bar area was perfect. Then there were several years of a bathing meeting congress at the hotel this night, which for some reason the bar area was overrun with parents and adolescents?! I decided to avoid this problem by making dinner reservations, hoping to get away from the bar area. To my surprise when we arrived, the place was quiet, no marauding teens sorry, I really have nothing against teenagers except when they are around a bar area that should be calm. Anyhoo, we were delighted at a high table in the bar area, next to a few who read quietly! . I had a burger and pommes, and my friend had the slides. Both were perfect. Our drinks came fast and our server was super friendly, courteous when we wanted to move away from a loud quartet and checked us just often enough. We had a nice evening, able to speak without distraction. If so, Zephyr is really the perfect place for an evening easy to reach by car, relaxing atmosphere, free validated parking, good food and a beautiful view of the Charles River.

I ordered shells, but although on the menu, they were not available. Then I ordered the meatless burger. without rolls. My companion had ordered the hamburger without rolls. Both were overboiled and dry. the asparagus, a leg, was overcooked. But the Martini was excellent and my companion had nothing but praise for his wormwood on the rocks. The service was good.

Great experience and great views of Boston and The Charles.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with a great view of the Charles River. Delicious and fresh Cobb Salad for me and the Shrimp Po Boy for my husband YUMMY! I may have tried one of his french fries too! Good beverages and excellent service from front desk to our server. Recommend!
