Anfiteatro - CAPOLIVERI

Be a little careful of this place. I ordered two cocktails for my son and me, a Negroni and an Americano and peach juice for my grandson. The cocktails and the ambiance outside was ok, nothing special. The main problem was when I asked for the check in broken Italian, they definitely knew I was a tourist. So, I think they used that as an opportunity to gouge me a little. Rather than give me a check, the waiter just said “…20 Euros.” So, since this seemed like it made sense in the context of NYC prices, I just gave him a 20E note and left. Later, I saw a sign on the bar almost right next to theirs that said the cocktails we ordered were 5 Euros each. Now maybe Anfiteatro truly prices their drinks at 2x of what the competition does, but I doubt it. Most places in Italy give you two or three receipts when you pay, but here I didn’t get a check/ bill or a receipt. So, it seems a little sketchy; and since nobody likes to get “picked off” – it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth, no pun intended! So, I suggest hitting another place for a cocktail.
