Central Chippy - Carlisle

Not disappointed at all! Exactly what a chippy should be. Steak pie, chips, peas and gravy delicious. Perfect pastry and gravy totally yum

We ordered a fantastic fish and chips dinner for a group of 20 people and had it delivered to us. It was our first time trying a large order like this, and we all enjoyed eating together. It was a great success and we all had a wonderful meal.

The food at this restaurant is fresh, hot, and delicious. I would highly recommend it. The fish was moist and cooked perfectly, and the mince patty was wonderful. Whoever is running this place turned it around five years ago. It is a fantastic place to eat.

I decided to change up my dinner routine and visited this restaurant. I was pleased to see that they had a strict entry policy in place for customers. The menu was displayed clearly with prices, and the staff were well-dressed and protected behind screens. The food was of high quality, neatly packaged, and freshly cooked.

Went here last night. Empty when I arrived, not a good sign for a Friday night. Hard to locate fish on the menu board, almost like it was an afterthought, but eventually saw they only do Cod, medium or large. Asked for 2 large “we’ve only got medium”, pointing at 3 fish in the cabinet. I asked if they would cook large ones fresh, “we’ve only got medium”. Looking at the fish in cabinet, one was an ok size, the other 2 were small. Bought all 3 in the end, to ensure we had enough as we were both hungry. Added a small portion of chips, curry sauce and mushy peas, and bill came to over £17! Chips were luke warm. Fish itself tasted ok, but batter was very chewy. Mushy peas were pale beige looked revolting, so I didn’t eat any. Curry sauce was the only saving grace! Would not recommend, and will definitely not go here again! Hardly deserves a star at all, except for tasty curry sauce
