Thought that I would get help in The Elk,, oh how wrong I was....I entered the downstairs bar and was immediately struck with how dingy, dark and noisy it was. I went to the bar to ask for help. At the bar the barman (small stocky, grey haired, gruff elderly man first of all barracked me for being at the bar. I tried to explain that I needed help and that of course I would buy a drink,,, he brushed me off and ignored me whilst I stood there,,,,he went to the till for a number of minutes while I stood, then took a plate of chips out,, meanwhile I started to explain to a young girl waitress my plight I was looking for an iphone charger (how many of those are there in the world!!!?? She was starting to take on board what I was saying when the short gruff barman came back and barked that they don't charge phones. I understand that normally this would be a pain but I had tried to explain the plight that I was in,,,,,but he was just rude, gruff and bad tempered. I've been in the Elk in the past but doubt if I will ever darken its door again, the atmosphere was dark and uninviting. Unfortunately I will of course be spreading the word. Courtesy costs nothing.
I went here to celebrate husbands 60 birthdays. The staff was more than welcoming. Nothing bothers two of them. We had asked for our food since there were 32 people in the food. The food was gorg. Everyone enjoyed their food. The staff decorated the tables for us and did a great job. Wud would definitely recommend it and we'll definitely be back soon. Thank you very much.
Popped in for lunch great food and service, reasonably priced and I will definitely be back sometime soon
This was our last stop on the way to the airport to fly home and what a lovely place. Inside it is very well decorated and all tables have room around them. The service was wonderful. The drinks came to The menu is very well located and we had the lunch menu. There was a lot of variety. All the food became good weather and was very nice. We also had a cup of tea, which was filled at no extra cost. As the cost of eating we had 4 large meals that came to £43.Highly recommended
We visited this restaurant for dinner on December 23rd. Upon entering, we were greeted by an overflowing ashtray at the front, which was a bad sign. When we got inside, there were no Christmas decorations, and only a few other diners in the restaurant. The waitress was friendly and seated us in a booth, but the area was dirty and cramped. I have allergies to dairy and soya, and requested an allergen menu or accommodation from the chef. After some back and forth with the waitress, the chef could only offer me a Thai curry, which I declined. We ended up ordering food for my son and left soon after to get dinner from a local takeaway. I reached out to the restaurant twice to express my disappointment but have not received a response. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant due to the lack of customer service.
