Ostier Vinoteca - Catania

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident. Walking by we thought “why not?” We couldn’t have picked a better place. Gracious hospitality. An extensive wine list. We had a bottle of Franchetti Passososso 2016 (DOC . Earthy, nice acid backbone, slight salt in the finish. Very nice Etna red. The food was unbelievable. We started with a goat cheese antipasti. Simply delicious. Then I had fresh fish fillet Eolian style, and my husband had beef cheeks in red wine. Both came with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed greens (escarole? . The flavors were amazing! For dessert we had a mascarpone delight. And the added bonus was that it all was gluten-free!!! Would highly recommend!

This place is not easy to find but it’s a gem when you do; the bill for two with a €21 bottle of wine came to €83.50 and that included dessert too. The Burrata was delicious as were our fish Warm welcome, attentive service and genuine food What more would you need?

I had the pleasure to visit Ostier for a birthday occasion in Catania. As it should be, we started with a tasteful antipasto with a delicate burrata as the main ingredient, among others. To accompany the dishes the restaurant has a great variety of wines, and the waitress was able to recommend the perfect pairing. For the main course we all order something different: I went for the black pork and I could not resist trying a bit of everything since all the dishes looked delicious. If there was still some room, I tried a mouthful of the dessert cake with “crema pasticcera”, incredible! I will return without hesitation.

Amazing food, really warm and welcoming service. The staff was more than happy to recommend wine pair for our meals and they got it delicious! Also very favorable for quality and knowledge of pairings. A must go in Catania!
