Eating is one of the perks while traveling, but as a vegan it can also be difficult to find good options three meals a day. Verde is centrally located in historic Charleston and provides a fresh, convenient, and healthy option. The menu consists of salads, wraps and soups. I had the Buddha Bowl, the Jack all Trades wrap, and their vegan chili. All were very good. So good that as we were leaving town we ordered these items a second time to take on the road for our drive back to the Atlanta area. Charleston has some great vegan restaurants and are worth the trek, but if you’re looking for a good option I’m the middle of the historic district, Verde is a great option.
I was a long time exploratory, but I'm ordering in the rule through her delivery service, but wasn't in the position today, so I left my writing and went to get it. I am so glad that I did it! When I arrived to pick up the salate for my fellow worker and I, they were not ready yet, although it was the time they picked up. don't worry! I saw that they had many customers and only 3 people. I have worked in food service many times in the run of the years, I understand the lunch brush! I was very happy to wait while they worked through their line and tickets. while I was waiting, I watched the three young ladies salate. a girl had pulled her hair back into a bunk, one had very long fleees that were all drawn back to a bigger braid at her back. the third young lady had also fled for a long time, except they were not withdrawn from her face and stayed on her shoulders. I saw her put her hair back so that the braids would be on her back without removing her gloves. okay, I personally would not want to touch my hair with food treated gloves, but not my hair, not my care. well, she made her hair my care if she did not remove her gloven and started touching the food! I saw them push their haare back 3 times (dead, check their cameras, I am sure it made more than 3 5/17 at 12:10ish) with their gloves up and back to salate, and as happy it would have, they made the salate I was there to lift up. I politely asked the cashier for a refund and quietly explained why I asked, provided that after this the girls are asked to change their gloves, I would get a refund, and be on my cheerful wise. I wait near to hear that my refund was processed and observed when she threw a mini-tantrum that throw away the food and continued to complain to customers about me. she also noticed that she was vaccinated for covid. I wasn't worried about covid, but I was worried about cross-contamination of other kind. on my ticket it clearly stated that I am allergic to wobble. I saw she worked on other salates, touched her hair, took a new broth and cut it, went back to other salads, touched her hair with both hands and then made my salad. if she did all this and didn't change her gloves, how can I be sure she didn't tame on her gloves? I know she had all hair products she used on her gloves after she had touched her hair so often! when I heard that she complained about me (verified by another customer) I asked if there was a manager in the spatialities, and one of the other young lady spoke to me. I explained the whole situation and she agreed and even confirmed the bad attitude of the girl that made my salad. I also noticed that she had not changed her gloves yet! so glad that I did not eat there today, I went around the corner to get the same salat in a facility that follows food safety measures. it was delicious and they will be my go-to for salads from here! Verde has not only lost my business, but the business of all in my office and all the people I would have pointed to them. they have received customers on my recommendation in the past, but I will send the people I come from now on to contact others. the other two young ladies were very pleasant and understanding, but I think everyone needs a refreshment in food safety, as one of the other young ladies was blaming people and handing their cards without removing their gloves and then returning to make food.
I have been a long time Verde customer, but I usually order through their delivery service but was unable to today, so I left my desk and went to get it. I am so glad that I did! When I arrived to pick up the salads for my coworker and I, they were not yet ready even though it was passed the time listed to pick them up. No worries! I saw that they had many customers and only 3 people. Having worked in food service many times over the years, I understand the lunch rush! I was perfectly happy to wait while they worked through their line and tickets. While waiting I was watching the 3 young ladies make the salads. One girl had her hair pulled back into a bun, one had very long braids all pulled back in to one larger braid at her back. The third young lady had long braids also, except hers were not pulled back away from her face and kept coming over her shoulders. I watched her push her hair back so that the braids would be at her back without removing her gloves. Okay, I personally would not want to touch my hair with food covered gloves but, not my hair, not my concern. Well, she made her hair my concern when she DID NOT REMOVE HER GLOVES AND STARTED TOUCHING THE FOOD!!!!! I watched her push her hair back 3 times (Verde, check your cameras, I am sure that it was more than 3 5/17/ at 12:10ish) with her gloves on and return to making salads, and as luck would have it, she was making the salads that I was there to pick up. I politely asked the cashier for a refund and quietly explained why I was asking, assuming that after this the girl would be asked to change her gloves, I would get a refund, and be on my merry way. I stood nearby waiting to hear that my refund was processed and watched as she threw a mini tantrum throwing the food away and proceeded to complain to customers about me. She also remarked that she has been vaccinated for COVID. Well, I was not worried about COVID, but I was worried about cross contamination of other sorts. On my ticket it clearly stated that I am allergic to onions. I saw her working on other salads, touching her hair, grabbing a new loaf of bread and cutting it, going back to other salads, touching her hair again with both hands, and then making my salads. If she did all of that and did not change her gloves how can I be sure that she did not have onion on her gloves? I know that she had whatever hair products she uses on her gloves after touching her hair so many times! When I heard her complaining about me (verified by another customer) I asked if there was a manager on the premises, and one of the other young ladies came speak with me. I explained the entire situation and she agreed and even confirmed the bad attitude of the girl who made my salads. I also noted that she still had not changed her gloves!!! So glad that I did not eat there today, I went right around the corner to get the same salad at an establishment that follows food safety measures. It was delicious and they will be my go-to for salads from here on out! Verde has not only lost my business, but the business of everyone in my office and all the people that I would have referred to them. They have received customers on my recommendation in the past, but I will be sending the people I come in contact with elsewhere from now on.
I 'm a vegan. When I first moved to Charleston I really liked the concept of Verde. To be able to get fresh salad and veggies is awesome. But the last 7 or 8 times I 've ordered from them have been horrific! Sometimes I order a soup with my salad but I order the large one for $6.95. But when my order arrives, it 's usually the small side soup for $3.95 instead of the large but of course my receipt shows that I paid for the large. Or, the lettuce and roasted broccoli in my salad will be wet, soggy and wilted. Sometimes they don 't even put the soup in the bag. It has gotten to the point where I go for months before ordering from Verde again because they ALWAYS get my order wrong. Today I ordered their vegan lentil soup. It clearly says vegan lentil soup on the receipt. But I get it and start eating it, and notice big pieces of chicken in the soup. So now I 'm feeling nauseous because I haven 't eaten chicken in over 25 years! This is unacceptable. I 'm not a litigious person, but Verde has me feeling like suing!
