The food was delicious and service amazing! jessica's recommendations were perfect! must try the ducks and dumplings!
My wife and I are a big fan of all of the rare roots restaurants, including Dogwood. We had the bacon jam as a starter, which was delicious. Any opportunity to try bacon in a different form is a must. Didn’t disappoint. We got the duck and dumplings (wife accidentally called it the dump and ducklings, which would have been a very different dish), which we’ve had before and loved it. Had a thanksgiving type aroma to it. So good!! We had the mushrooms as a side, which was so savory. I love mushrooms and these met/exceeded expectations. We split the flounder, and while we both enjoyed it, we did feel it was a bit spicy (my wife doesn’t like spice and I have a moderate tolerance for it). For dessert, we had the espresso chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream (had to order ice cream separate). Probably our favorite part of the meal. A must try. I usually get the cheesecake there for dessert as it’s the only cheesecake I like, but since we went o fin and fino the week before and had it there, we opted for something different. Glad we did!! Also, the service was great, as usual. I think her name was Matt. Hard to get good service these days, but Rare Roots seems to take care of their staff, so we’ve never had an issue. Can’t wait for the next visit!!
We ordered the chef tasting and unfortunately I was disappointed. I did enjoy the drinks that they paired with each dish they were delicious. The food was good I just expected more than a charcuterie board, and a roll of collard green with duck in it as 2 of the 3 meals.I would have rather ordered off the menu.
Great experience the waitress was very attentive and the chef did a great job explaining the dishes.
