The sauce was flavorful and not spicy; a perfect addition and finishing touch for this sandwich.Thank you so much Christina for the great recommendation and for the quality customer service.Go here now! Great sandwich!
Korean fried chicken sandwich was really tough, like hard to tear off tough... the fried mochi was amazing though. Don't think I'd be interested in trying again, but will return to get a side of mochi!
Okonomiyaki at Xiao Bao is now my favorite dish out of the all vendors at Optimist Hall! I ordered mine (not knowing exactly what I was getting) and had a runny egg added! Oh my goodness! What you get is a pancake made from shredded cabbage which is crisped up so nicely! And then the toppings drizzled on top (soy sauce reduction, garlic sauce, sriracha, Mayo sauce) all come together so nicely! The runny added just added a great richness!I’m knocking one star off for my experience with the KFC. I was underwhelmed by the overpowering saltiness! The fried chicken piece was a large portion sandwiched between 2 buns. The sauce was just okay and the chicken was not moist enough to stand up to the buns.
Unassumingly tasty! At first glance the menu board looks a little like an at home craft project for beginners. So I wasn't sure what to expect given the price (which by the way isn't as bad as others). Service, friendly and approachable! We were even offered an explanation of a few menu items even though we didn't need it, still appreciated! Most disappointing thing about the menu, they were out of a couple of items like the fried mochi. The star of the menu for us, the KFC sando! This sandwich could be shared, but why. Just order it for yourself! The chicken itself is large which is great considering the bun size. There is nothing worse than getting a sandwich where there is more bun than filling, not an issue with this sandwich. Not sure what all is in the sauce that this sandwich is dripping with but it is perfection! The Okonomiyaki was fine. I will say if you order the Okonomiyaki pay extra for the sunny side up egg on top, it's worth it and the egg is cooked perfectly. For me the missed opportunity (aside from being out of fried mochi) was the fried brussels. They were swimming in sauce and as a result the brussels didn't have that crunch you would want from the fry of the brussels. They were also mixed with other veggies. Not bad just not expected and personal preference would be just brussels. Fortunately the KFC sando saved the day and this review!
I was a bit disappointed in the Okonomiyaki here. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese pancake made from batter and cabbage topped with sauces and various breakfast items. However what they call the Okonomiyaki here is just cabbage topped with sauces. It's not Okonomiyaki. There's nothing pancake about it. So again kinda disappointing to pay $12 for some cabbage and sauce, I even paid extra to have some meat on top of it. I got some house fries which were actually pretty good, but don't go here for the Okonomiyaki unless you want some cabbage covered in sauce.
