La Ferriere - Châteaubriant

Beautiful gastronomic experience, I shy Oister and Foi gras, but everything from the menu is good. A little hint of the wines that do not follow the overall quality of the food (I have only tried some of them and not the most expensive ones).

My wife and I were at the hotel, so took the opportunity to eat at the restaurant to save driving to the city, and we were glad that we did. After a whisky aperitif on the garden terrace, we were shown on our table in the winter garden restaurant and very well supervised by the friendly staff. With several different award-winning menus from which we can choose, we have picked each for the 30 euros. My wife had the king prawn's starter (flamed at the table), while I had the carpaccio of beef with pear sorbet. We had a beautifully boiled steak with vegetables, with which we enjoyed an excellent claret from the extensive wine list, and to dessert my wife chose the opera cake while I enjoyed my baked alaska (flamed again at the table). A delicious coffee from the extensive coffee menu completes a pleasant and unforgettable meal.

Beautiful atmosphere beautiful building, menu looked wonderful, comprehensive wine list the young trainee waitress who looked after our party was a pleasure, the menu that we chose from beginning to end was bad quality with little taste, the main dish meat was so badly cooked two... Members of the party were not able to eat it when it finally came to clear the table and we complained about eating a different meal was offered, but no apology was then in the whole before the whole.

A very good menu and wine list. Delicious food and excellent service. A good choice of breads, meats and cheeses at breakfast.

Stayed at the hotel with my wife so we had dinner here rather than go into town. Being a hotel restaurant out of town rather than just a restaurant in town I thought the food was likely to be pretty ordinary butt it was...a lot better than I expected. Prices were acceptable and the wine was reasonable dinner for the two of us was EUR 56.40 all in.
