Many meals here. everything is good and wee in generous glasses. menu changes enough they can visit more often. they also take coffee in their outgoing hours. update: now changed their name from zipp to melting pot bar and bistro. then for a groupon deal and they were as good as before
The restaurant is located at the lower edge of the mantra hotel, not far from the stop chatswood. there are free street parking close to 18 o'clock. the restaurant has two separate dining areas that are uniquely separated by a row of vertical planks and glow bulbs....We sat on a table next to the glow bulbs initially, but found the flickering lights somewhat distracting so that we moved to another table. the service was very attentive and we were impressed how quickly the food came out. we had a 3-course menu that we bought over groupon. we chose salt and pfefferstreu and pork gyozas as derées, chicken carving with chips and salat and an Asian style lachs for the net and a trio of gelato and the chocolate brownie dessert. that was excellent and we liked how they shed the dishes. the crumbs were particularly good and I liked the jus who came with the scavenger. that was a very satisfying meal.
This was our second visit here, the last being some time ago. We were glad to be placed on a quiet table for two, until a noisy table of four was installed right next to us. (I'm sure there was plenty of space elsewhere for...the table of four. The food was ok, good for a hotel restaurant. The food was forgettable, but it wasn't bad.
This was not a place for a quiet night out. The food I had was good but comes with a hefty price ticket considering it was a beat up café. The wine list was short. Service was good but .... it may sound very pompous...but do I need to be addressed as darling by someone half my age? No.
