It is located in a quaint little village and the pub is easily missed if you don't know it is tucked behind a church. Parking outside was difficult, but we found a space on the nearby road. We didn't feel warmly greeted, but a table had been reserved for us and we were asked to sit down. No one showed us to our table, so we had to go to the bar to get our drinks. A young girl took our order, which included roasts, pork, chicken, a couple of vegetarian options, and a homemade steak and kidney pie. The three-course meal was priced at £10.95 and the starters included pate, soup, and garlic bread. The soup and pate were delicious, but the pork was not great. One person did not receive roast potatoes and had to ask for them. The mixed vegetables were served in a bowl for you to help yourself. The restaurant was fairly busy, with an old-fashioned atmosphere, but the food was hot and edible. Overall, it was an okay experience and we wouldn't rush back to dine there again.
The Queens Head restaurant offers affordable, but mediocre food in the village of Boreham. Despite the availability of quality local produce, the menu opts for quantity over quality. The Landlady tries her best, but the overall dining experience falls short. Prices are cheap, but the value may not be worth it. Watch out for seating next to the ladies' toilet, as it can be disruptive. The selection of beers is good, but service is unfriendly. Parking is limited, and the future of this establishment is questionable. Consider supporting one of Essex's great pubs instead of this lackluster option.
I went to this restaurant with some friends for a casual Saturday afternoon outing. As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the charming old-fashioned wooden tables and chairs, cozy bar, and the welcoming atmosphere full of friendly locals. The bar staff was attentive and friendly, and they had a great selection of beers and real ale. We decided to order from the sandwich menu, which was delicious and reasonably priced. They also had daily meal specials available. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.
Have eaten here many times when visiting family nearby and the home cooked food with an ever changing specials board is excellent. Don't expect a fancy gastropub experience, the Queens is a local village pub with good pub food , large portions of tasty well cooked food . Took a large party there prior to my son's wedding and everyone really enjoyed it , great atmosphere ,very reasonable prices , everything a traditional pub should be !
Good food, very reasonable prices.Didn't have to wait long even though they were busy.Would like to go back and try their Sunday Lunch.
