The food was yummy. Only snag was that in our group was a vegetarian (not that this was a problem to me) but to her she had only one choice. So if you’re a veggie probably not the best choice! But if you love meat like I do, then it was fab! I had the beef burger and it was delicious! Generous portions. I was very greedy and ordered a pudding. The traditional jam roly poly was just too much of a temptation! And I ate it all up! The only thing I didn’t like which is me being finicky was I like proper plates for my food. It was a wooden board for my burger and a skillet for my pudding.
This restaurant is no longer the same. The staff appear confused and the food, especially the steak and chips, is no longer as delicious as it used to be. The atmosphere has changed noticeably. I will not be coming back anytime soon. To the management: please take note of these issues and make improvements before it's too late.
After calling a few weeks in advance to reserve a table for Sunday lunch, we were informed that only bookings of a certain size were accepted. However, we were assured that walk-ins were usually not a problem. Following this advice, we arrived at the restaurant and requested a table for two. Despite being told there would be a short wait, we were welcome to stand at the bar or sit outside with a drink. Opting to stand at the bar, we found ourselves ignored by the staff and even the manager. The final straw was when the manager walked away without acknowledging us. Frustrated by the poor service, we decided to leave. It was clear that this restaurant prioritizes the convenience of management over customer satisfaction. As a result, we will not be returning and will instead support another great venue in the area.
After visiting Beeston Castle, we went to this restaurant for lunch. Upon entering, we were greeted by a large open fire, creating a cozy and rustic atmosphere. The food was delicious, with generous portions. However, the only downside was that one person in our group was a vegetarian and had limited choices. If you are a vegetarian, this may not be the best option for you. But for meat lovers like myself, it was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed the beef burger and couldn't resist ordering a traditional jam roly poly for dessert. The only minor complaint I had was that I prefer to eat off of proper plates, as my burger was served on a wooden board and my pudding in a skillet.
We have been enjoying this pub and restaurant for over ten years, however there is a noticeable decline in service standards and general management in recent months. There is a clear lack of staff training and the recently appointed manager appeared completely disinterested. We sat...and waited for drinks for just shy of one hour, the manager had seen us seated and never returned. Four members of staff stood chatting behind the bar completely oblivious. After an hour and minutes, we walked out. Although this is our local, we will be taking ourselves elsewhere. Really disappointing.
