Came here for lunch during our family trip to Vigan. They have a parking lot across the street, left of Grandpa's Inn Restaurant. Cafe Uno offers a lot of classic Filipino dishes like Kare Kare, pinakbet (or pakbet), bagnet, and salted egg with tomatoes. Best paired with their delicious garlic fried rice! They have a condiments station where you can combine your favorite vinegars, fish sauces and chilies with a squeeze of fresh calamansi, a nice sauce to dip your crispy pork bagnet in. We ordered two kinds of bagnet, one that was just fried with no sauce, one fried with a shrimp paste sauce (armang) and tomatoes. Both were tasty and fulfilled my bagnet cravings until I return to Ilocos Sur again. I especially enjoyed the Kare Kare, which unlike curry (which is what it sounds like), has a peanut-y sauce with ox tail and mixed vegetables like eggplant, okra, and beans. In addition, Cafe Uno is only a block away from the UNESCO world heritage Calle Crisologo, so what perfect way to have a meal here, followed by a stroll down history lane.
Came here during our day tour of Vigan. We sat at the cafe side of things because I believe theres 3 properties next to each other. We had their fried pork belly, garlic fried rice, authentic longanesa, eggplant and sinigang. Garlic fried rice was a heaping portion but lacked the garlic in thr name garlic fried rice. Maybe im just to use to American longenessa with the fillers and preservatives because these little dried pieces of meat was just sad looking and very dry, lacking any flavor. I was thoroughly disappointed. Eggplant tasted very smoky as though it was in direct contact with the flames, was distasteful. Fried pork belly as usual was amazing. Crunchy and yet chewy. Sinigang was good Service was slow and seemed difficult to get their attention. Space is small and cramped. If we stopped right there I wouldve given them 3 stars but we came back after to get a chocalate cake. I ordered a bananna shake anf a watermelon shake. They took a good 15 minutes to get it ready. But it was so thin and watered down, seems as though they used a powder base. It was pretty revolting actually. Overall this place is overrated. The food was lacking and seemed of poor quality and service was slow. Will not be back.
Its a good family restaurent verry nice place to chill and eat inside is cold so u better bring some hoodiee
Contrary to its high reviews elsewhere, this place is actually a mediocre coffee shop that seems to have a high profile only because it 's the best one in the city. But if you 've been to a lot of cafes then you 'll easily figure why it 's not really anything special. We ordered crispy Sisig and bagnet plus a white chocolate mocha and dulce de leche cheesecake from here and I was disappointed. The Sisig wasn 't sizzling and wasn 't crispy and was mostly onions instead of meat. The bagnet didn 't have sauce with it and I 'm sure you can 't eat just plain crispy pork fat... Bagnet usually has a sepcific kind of sauce and this one didn 't. The white chocolate mocha seemed like 90% white chocolate and mocha and 10% milk and it was just too sweet it hurt my throat. The cake... It said cheesecake but the body was actually a sponge/chiffon kind of cake. It might be the best or the only decent cafe in town but it really is NOT worth giving any good reviews to. I would NOT recommend this place.
