I loved the meatballs, little taste balls that kick you in the face. the food came over and over again. I was forced to go when they were closed at 12 o'clock. the service and the atmosphere were impeccable. regarding the cost, I'm sure it's expensive, I went there for a work-related social, so it wasn't me that paid...lol (Chapo alarm)
Eating is modern Polish and excellent. they can share several appetizers such as tapas if they cannot be faced with huge pieces of meat. I like the potato pancakes with different things like salmon or mushrooms. one of them is enough for a small appetit. the steak tart starter is enough for me to eat. puddings can be excellent, the cheesecake is to die. the place has high ceilings and can be loud. there were two big parties when we were there, which is not ideal, but the staff has copied well. they cannot reserve in the bar, but the vodka must be fantastic and the bar foods sound very tempting. there is a beautiful terrace on the back with a view of a garden square. the lunch is very...read more
Have you ever broken out from a museum in south ken that needs food? we have, although in the regular children in tow, so cocktails and Polish foods are not likely to be on the daily order. shame as ognisko, a beautiful bar and restaurant of jan woroniecki – the man behind the fab baltic in southwark, is surrounded by all muses on the exhibition street. in a very large, terrace-shaped Victorian building, in which the Polish hearth club was founded in 1940, it was undergoing an extensive renovation. they wanted us to come and see it. The restaurant is absolutely stunning and the food is amazing, especially the beef wellington - so delicious! The service was excellent and we had the best New Year's Eve celebration. The live band was brilliant and we will definitely be returning.
This was our first time at this wonderful Polish restaurant, but it definitely won't be our last. Despite living in London for ten years, we had never been here for a meal before. Not sure why, but we have been missing out. We sat in the terrace area of the restaurant, and even though it was winter, it was nice and warm with a lovely view of the park. It would be a fantastic spot in the warmer months of summer. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. The food was traditional Polish cuisine, which is the main draw here. The hearty Polish cooking is done right in the heart of London, and we absolutely loved it. The restaurant has been around since 1940, so they must be doing something right. Thank you for a fantastic lunch experience.
