(no veg at all) my wife and our friends were most disappointed also our host ordered a robalo that came with 2 kartoffels and 2 asparagus tips, the fish was the size of a sardine, and we all left hungry. not a good experience, and very overpriced (we were not paying), we would have visited again if that was good, but it was not.
We were a night in the hotel d luis and had dinner in the restaurant panorama. it was a fun experience. the menu looked good, and for a hotel restaurant not too pricy. the food was presented beautifully. unfortunately the taste did not live until. the presentation. my court was undertook, both fish and kartoffels were on the raw side. the court my wife ordered was in order, but nothing special. the desert was beautiful. the funst piece about the experience was to watch the witness. they tried very hard. in the did they tried so hard that they were constantly running and looked tense and confused, despite the fact that it wasn't too many guests. Nevertheless, we waited about 15 minutes after eating before someone took away the dirty dishes, and then this was done so quickly that we could not order a coffee or a desert. When we finally asked a young waitress on a desert, she looked totally confused and had to discuss our order with two high-ranking waitresses. they discussed at least one minute. it was fun to observe, but very ineffective. all in all this could be a good restaurant when it changes its organization. the rigid hierarchy is clearly visible to customers, and that is a bad thing. they get the feeling that everyone is afraid to make a mistake, and as a result are made mistakes all time. for a top-class restaurant it is unsurpassed. for a nice day restaurant it is overcomplicated. I guess that was you calling overambitious.
Good service, excellent breakfast for a 3 star hotel. great view over the city (please ask for a city room.) in which did some 10 minutes drive to the city, but great when they have a car. good option for a family of 4 visit coimbra. for a few days.
The view is terrific. We came here because we stopped at the hotel earlier for directions, and the desk staff were so kind and helpful, it seemed right to give it a try. The meal portions are substantial. The waiter steered me away from my...first choice to another, which didn't seem especially Portuguese, and was only ok. Who knows if I should have stuck with my first pick. The service was uneven. I'd say, go for the view and appetizers or lunch.
We spent the S. Martinho weekend at the Best Western D. Luís and we thought we could try the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, who were really nice, starting by the head waiter. Dinner was great! The chestnut soup, the codfish with...mushrooms and the pork with chestnuts. We had a chestnut overdose but it was so worth it! Concerning, I had the best toucinho do céu in a long time. There was music to cheer up, and the sweet hot chocolate was the best way to end a great night. This restaurant will make us return to Coimbra.
