China Chef - Colchester

Ordered a take away and 1 of the dishes was not ncluded. They refused to accept that it was not included, and it CERTAINLY WAS NOT. They did give me the dish when when I went back to the restaurant, but reluctantly, still insisting it was originally packed. The customer management was dreadful. I have no complaints about the food.

Went for my brothers 18th birthday and the food was great, however the staff one lady in particular was very rude when I was ordering rolling her eyes and giving attitude because she believed we didn’t order enough food. This really ruined the mood for the evening and set a negative tone. This really is a shame as the food is great.

Ordered 2 mains, a rice and 2 glasses of wine to be told we had not ordered enough food?? I have NEVER in all my years eating in restaurants be told to order more food, for one it is rude, maybe we had a budget or wasn't hungry enough to order another dish and waste food! I didn't want to make a scene and ordered some more food, but left feeling quite annoyed. I looked on their website and could not find a minimum spend, I even called Citizens Advice as this is not something I have come across before and they labelled it as very poor customer service. I urge anyone going to this restaurant to read the reviews before going

So the atmosphere and decor were wonderful very high end for the very reasonable price of the menu. I had taken my friend out because she wasn't feeling well and we really enjoyed our meal, since the food was good quality and we did have a nice table and quick service. However, she didn't end up ordering much, as, as I said, she wasn't feeling her best. The staff were a bit hostile towards this, not taking her plates, being rude about the bill even though we spent around £40. Overall an odd experience, probably wouldn't go back but would order takeaway.

We have been to this restaurant a few times for family occasions and chose it again for an 18th. I had made the restaurant aware it was for an 18th previously. Whilst the food is amazing, the service was quite poor. We chose enough food for our party but there appeared to be eye rolling and making one of our party very uncomfortable that we had not ordered an equal number of set meals for each party in our member (we ordered a mixture and added several dishes due to allergies and appetite). No one asked if everything was okay with the meal etc, I know it was busy on a week night but there appeared to be plenty of staff. The only time we got a smile was when we paid and left a cash tip.. in hindsight, it should have been a lot less.
