The Crown - Colchester

There is a vegan menu that was great, but several items I ordered were not available as they did not have it in stock and so I had to order something else that was disappointed. The app does not work properly, so I did not get my 33%, although my booking via the app after the promotion and service was bad as we ordered drinks extras and half of our order came out and the other half never came out. Totally disappointed and will not return!

You have a separate menu for vegans that includes starters, nets and a real dessert! I had the vegetable tar for the main and the Pecan Pier for desert. Really nice food and very good service.

My wife and I were thrilled to find a pub with a vegan menu so close to us. When we arrived there, the server was quite atmospheric, but we were thrilled to see what looked like a great menu. We waited for about 20 minutes for our food and were extremely disappointed when it arrived. We ordered the 'Miso Aubergine Brötchen with kale and cauliflower cousin Salat' that we thought would be Aubergine rolled up in a fancy-ish way, but it was actually Aubergine filled in a sad longevity (at least the 's how it tasted) bread roll. Obviously they don't know what cousin is because instead of semolina cous cous, it was just flower small cut to look like cousin! There was no paint or taste. We also ordered the asparagus and mint tagliatelle, who agreed to have hardly any taste, and the pasta was again, sad and mushy. The only thing it saved was to cover it in salt. It is so sad to see such a menu, all excited and disappointed, but at least there was a chance to warn others about going there. There are MUCH better options in Colchester, even a ride to Sudbury is worth avoiding this place.

The waitress was completely clueless when it came to taking our order and serving it. Our food only came out for three of us instead of four, and we didn't receive steak knives with our meals. My steak had the wrong sauce, and we had to wait for the last meal to come out, which left our food cold. I have never experienced such incompetence and unprofessionalism in all my years of dining out. Despite receiving a discount from the manager, I will not be returning to this restaurant.

We found the restaurant to be chilly, as we were seated by the window. The soup we ordered arrived cold, so we sent it back to the kitchen. One bowl was returned to us hot, but the other was still cold. Our main course was finished before our wine arrived. Throughout the meal, we were never asked if everything was satisfactory. The restaurant seemed understaffed for the number of diners. This experience was disappointing, especially since we have enjoyed dining at this restaurant in the past.
