Surfside Cafe - Conwy

We visited as a large family group for dinner to find that out reserved tables had not been cleaned and the state of the upholstered chairs were so vile I didn’t want to sit on them! The only items on the menu were pizza and chips so you’d think they could at least get that right. Well no, every pizza that came out was either under cooked or burnt. The pizza base tasted of cardboard and the vegetables were clearly tinned as the mushrooms were a disgusting shade of green in which they have the nerve to charge £10.95 for.

It's OK it has a captive market and based on the surfing and other outdoor activities, it's probably reasonable that the menu is quite basic. The pizzas were quite nice, the chips were hard (maybe undercooked) but the service was pretty quick on one occasion and really really slow on another. The staff are mainly young, very keen and very polite but quite inexperienced and probably mostly off to university in a couple of months so I suspect there's quite a turnover. It's good that there are large TVs lots of Olympics and Hundreds Cricket to keep the teenagers entertained.

It was a bit of a breezy day so a nice warm leek and potato soup was very much welcomed for sure. Reasonably priced and served quickly. Very nice.

The actual Surf Snowdonia location is fantastic, but the food is a letdown. A sausage roll priced at £3.50 was lacking in actual sausage meat, and all other menu items are overpriced. It seems they take advantage of having customers captive on-site. I have never experienced such poor food quality at such high prices. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager about it, I was left waiting for 5 minutes, then asked again and still received no assistance. It's a shame that the management needs to address this issue, as other customers overheard and agreed that they wouldn't be returning due to the inflated prices. Don't expect customers to pay exorbitant prices just because they are at the location.

The food and ambience here is good. The menu is basic but great tasting. The pizzas are huge and really delicious plus you can take out food. We loved the pizzas, yet the healthy options are plentiful and also very tasty. The salmon salad was great. Best recommendation is the loaded chilli nachos couldn’t get enough of them!! The bar staff are great as are the espresso martinis!!!
