China City - Covington

We were in Hammond and I were ready to go to Covington for good Chinese food. By reviewing online we chose China City. The ride is worth spending your money on good food. The man answered the phone and not only was super polite, but also got the order correctly the first time we told him. He listened! It was great to hear. When we arrived, he let me know that they currently cook the rest of the order and only a few minutes later it was ready. He made sure the order was correct and I paid him. The young woman who came to the table with me was just as friendly. When we came home, everything was perfectly cooked, tasted fantastic and looked so good. We ordered sesame chicken, bourbon chicken and a city sampler. All were very good.

This place may be a hidden gem. The food is consistently delicious,and the staff are super nice. Will be eating there again soon!

Found it pricey for the amount you got. A combo plate over 10. The egg roll was flat and greasy. The rice was decent had some pork onion lots of peas and carrots. I was disappointed the sweet and sour shrimp did not come with onions and bell peppers.

Well, we ordered from this restaurant based on all of the fantastic reviews. Quite frankly, I have no earthly clue how anyone rated this above two stars. The coconut shrimp was 99% dough, the shrimp and lobster sauce was nothing more than several shrimp thrown in a container of egg drop soup. Everything we had seemed like it was pre-packaged, pre-prepared and just thrown in a microwave or fryer. The fast food, drive-through places are much better. Would love to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the Covington area however, this place was absolutely the worst.

First time trying this place after reading reviews. This is the first time I’ve ever cared to write a review regardless if I didn’t particularly enjoy the food or if it was absolutely delicious. However, after running to the bathroom in the middle of the night multiple times, I knew it was imperative to write this review. I will never ever go to this place again. I ordered the Mongolian beef combo with fried rice and an egg roll. Just can’t believe how many raving reviews I saw on here.
