Metropolitan Cafe' - CREMONA

Great location (one of 3 bars on Piazza Duomo), atmosphere is nice. The aperitivi however were very average. 2 aperitifs (one alcoholic, one non), crisps, petite triangles of bread with an almost invisibly transparently thin slice of salami on top, toasted corn buds, and something else that is best forgotten. Price €9.50. Would even have preferred to have paid more with better quality snacks. SHAME

This is one of the 3 main coffes/bars in piazza del duomo of Cremona. It is my favourite due that it does not have the very low service of the old one (with better view) but still have the atmosphere. My main critic is that the aperitivi snacks were quite tasteless

We first visited Metropolitan after being on the receiving end of some pretty sloppy service from an establishment next door. Totally out of the character of the place I must admit. However, after decamping to Metropolitan, we were served within seconds of being seated. There we were provided with some quality nibbles and a pretty decent bottle of Chianti all at a very reasonable price. In fact the only minor criticism I have of the Metropolitan, is the range of wines on offer more varied wines on offer at other bars. We were so impressed on our visit, that we returned on another couple of occasions. Perhaps the view isn’t quite as good as the one from its competitor, (it is still excellent by the way), but I couldn’t complain about the quality of the drinks or the complimentary snacks that were provide with them. Service was impeccable during every visit. Thoroughly recommended.
