My husband and I both had the chicken poor boy sandwich (with fries and soup and I can say, any poor boy I have from any otherplace will have VERY big shoes to fill!! (And I'm sure those shoes won't be filled!! We can't wait to go back and try somethingelse! I highly recommend giving them a try!!
Me and wife started going here a while. Great food excellent soups. Great service. I like local restaurants and stay away from chains. You will enjoy your meal here great service. Haven't had a bad meal. You should definitely try. You won't bedisappointed.
First time here. I love places that have a solid family history. We got what they are known for, the poor boy steak sandwich. The thing that makes this different is the garlic butter it is applied to the meat, not the bread. Unlike garlic bread thatcan be inconsistent flavor, this flavor is consistent throughout. Its a party in your mouth with each bite. We didn't getanything on it, to get the full flavor of the 6 oz round steak. Next time I'll add the mushrooms. They offered cheese, onions, or mushrooms. It comes with thinly sliced pickles. I have to say it adds a nice touch, considering I'm not in thepickle fan club. The sandwich is a nice size and will get me 2 meals. I ordered fries and my husband ordered onion rings. Thefries were ordinary, the star was the onion rings. The presentation was appealing, they were crunchy, and nice light rings. Youcould bite through the onions, cooked perfectly. I hate biting in an onion ring and the whole thing comes out. It's served withranch dressing. Our friends recommended the double baked potato. It was good but I think it really didn't go with thissandwich. My husband enjoyed it though. The atmosphere is homey, and comfortable, The service is very good and attentive. The onion rings are pricey but worth every penny. This restaurant has been around forever and does not need my review, but theyhave a great place, and we need to spread the word! We drive 60 miles round trip and we'll be back!
Came here on a Saturday night, first time ever coming here and it was like walking into a time capsule, so cool! Our waitress, Melissa was very friendly and accommodating she even gave us a history lesson on the place. Everything we ate was very good, wecan?t wait to come back!
Merichka?s is such a Joliet go to. Food is good and always good service. I personally prefer the Yodel burger over the poor boy. The pork chops are giant so definitely expect to be here a little longer so they can cook it all the way through.
